Green Board Blues Junior

• Tone Stack Kit
  Premium-quality Orange Drop capacitors replace the bass and mids caps. Essential for every Blues Junior. Tone is richer, deeper, and eliminates "boxy" sound. You can't get these caps at Radio Shack. $5. Includes cooler bias resistor if you don't order adjustable bias kit. Only $5
• Reverb Kit
  Premium-quality 470pF capacitor, pre-connected hookup wire, intensity resistor. Updates green board reverb circuit to current cream board design. Eliminates reverb hum, buzz, and hiss, makes reverb clearer, and increases depth. Included (free!) with the tone stack kit for green board amps.
• Bright Switch/Presence Control
  Adds a presence control with a pull-up bright switch to breathe new life into your Blues Junior's tone. The presence control fills in the tonal space between the mids and treble controls. Increases amp volume and accentuates reverb. The bright switch covers the highest frequencies, for ultimate clean tone, but maintains the green board's darker personality, too. Prewired control has premium dipped silver mica bright caps installed, shielded cable for bright cap connection, wire for presence hookup. Requires drilling a hole for the control. Hear it in action.
• Adjustable Bias Kit
  Tame those hot-running output tubes and balance the output stage for maximum tone and minimum hum. Includes dual trim pots, hookup wire, resistors, and drilling template. (Recommended only if you're a tweak freak. The simple adjustable bias below is fine.) $15

•  Simple Adjustable Bias
  I also have a new adjustable bias that adjusts both tubes; it doesn’t allow individual balancing. $7 and only two holes to drill. Since you buy matched tubes anyway, this is probably your best choice. This is what I do to all BJrs that I mod unless the customer wants balanceable bias.

• Metal Input Jack
  You can replace the plastic input jack with an all-metal Switchcraft jack (the industry standard). It comes prewired with Mogami low-noise coaxial cable and includes two Switchcraft isolation washers (one flat, one shoulder washer) to eliminate the possibility of ground loop hum. Requires removing the circuit board and desoldering the old jack with desoldering braid or a solder sucker pump. $10.

• Power Supply Stiffening
  An additional 47uF 450V capacitor doubles the capacitance in the first filter stage, which halves the ripple going to the power tubes, which reduces hum. It increases reserve power for solid bass and incisive picking, and helps to compensate for the undersized output transformer. $6

• Clean Boost Module
  This is a one-inch square board that connects to your circuit board (held by one of the mounting screws) and connects to the circuit board in three places. All connections are from the top of the board; no need to remove it. It gives approximately the same increase in volume as the Fat switch, but without the increase in bass. It makes clean or distorted tones louder, and when used in conjunction with the Fat switch is about twice as loud. It does not increase distortion. It can be wired to go on with the Fat switch, on a pull-up with the presence control, or, if you wish, on its own footswitch: $40. See http://machrone.home.comcast.net/bjr/cleanboost.htm.

• TwinStack Mod

• Preamp Boost Mod
